Tax experts came together in London for a one-and-a-half-day meeting to examine what a global tax policy environment will look like in 2025 and beyond. The meeting was co-hosted by CATA and Ernst & Young and was the fourth instalment of the ‘Future of Tax’ series. The first day of the event was held at the Commonwealth Secretariat’s headquarters, Marlborough House, and the participants were welcomed by the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. The High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom hosted the second day of the meeting and the Minister-Counsellor (Commercial/Economic) and Senior Trade Commissioner, Nathalie Dubé, gave an address to the participants on behalf of the High Commission.  

Those participating in the meeting included representatives from international organisations such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; the private sector; and government officials including the Prime Minister of St Lucia.

During the meeting the participants shared views on the latest developments at the OECD / G20, explored what forms of tax competition may take place in the future, discussed the impact of the move towards a cashless society on our tax systems and closed the meeting with a debate on illicit financial flows.
