“Barbados Revenue Authority Hosts 11th Global Forum Competent Authorities Conference”

Barbados hosts successful 11th Global Forum Competent Authorities Conference. The Barbados Revenue Authority (the Authority) and the Barbados International Business Unit jointly hosted the 11th Global Forum Competent Authorities Conference, held on May 6-7 at the Hilton Barbados Resort.

The two-day meeting, organised in partnership with the Global Forum Secretariat, was opened by Barbados’ Minister with responsibility for Finance and Economic Affairs, the Hon. Ryan Straughn, M.P. The BRA Revenue Commissioner, Louisa Lewis-Ward and head of the Global Forum Secretariat, Zayda Manatta also addressed the participants.

The Commissioner underscored the island’s long history of international cooperation on tax matters and the fact that it remains actively engaged in the work of the Global Forum. She shared from the perspective of a small island developing state (SIDS), citing the importance of them being engaged and participating in similar meetings, such that they are able to bring their unique perspectives and challenges to the fore.
