Following the success of last year’s event, the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), in Nagpur, India kindly hosted a second workshop on the topic of investigation and intelligence gathering techniques. This event was attended by twenty-six participants from eleven Commonwealth countries and took place from 20th to 24th August, 2018.

The purpose of this interactive course was to equip the participants with up-to-date methods of investigation and intelligence gathering in order to deal with tax avoidance and tax evasion. Some of the topics covered at the workshop included the impact of virtual/crypto currencies on tax investigation, investigation techniques in the banking sector, and investigation techniques used in capital markets. The workshop also provided the participants the opportunity to share experiences of the challenges faced by their respective tax administrations and discuss ways in which these challenges can be tackled.
